Nobel Prize lessons – Women in the labour market

The 2023 prize in economic sciences is about women’s historical and contemporary roles in the labour market. Laureate Claudia Goldin has dug through the archives and utilised more than two hundred years of data from the United States to explain how and why differences in wages and level of employment between men and women have changed over time. Claudia Goldin’s research has improved our understanding of the labour markets of the past, present and future.

This is a ready to use Nobel Prize lesson on the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2023. The lesson is designed to take 45 minutes and includes a slideshow with a speaker’s manuscript, a video and a student assignment.
